TANGRA’s bold Indo-Chinese dishes, like Gobi 65 and signature Hakko, bring fiery flavour and vibrant energy to Soho’s dining scene.
Nostalgic Dishes with a Modern Twist
TANGRA, Soho’s latest restaurant, celebrates Indo-Chinese cuisine with bold flavours, nostalgic street food classics, vibrant cocktails, and inventive dishes like the signature Hakko. Open for lunch, dinner, and late-night dining.
Soho’s buzzing food scene gets an electrifying new addition on Monday, 3rd November 2025, with the launch of TANGRA — a bold Indo-Chinese restaurant spearheaded by Executive Chef Nikesh Sawant and his talented culinary team. Drawing inspiration from the rich culinary traditions of India, Tibet, Nepal, and the storied diaspora behind Indo-Chinese cuisine, TANGRA promises to be a thrilling day-to-late-night dining destination.
A Culinary Love Letter to Indo-Chinese Cuisine
The restaurant takes its name from Tangra, the famous Kolkata neighbourhood where Indo-Chinese cooking was born. This distinctive style emerged from the creative fusion of Hakka Chinese cooking methods with Indian spices, a legacy carried through bustling street food corners in Mumbai and Kathmandu to modern-day kitchens around the world.
At TANGRA, tradition meets innovation. The menu is packed with bold, shareable plates like the fiery Himawan Sadeko Chick’n and TANGRA Special Combination Rice, alongside comforting mains that include Hakka Noodles, Manchurian Kofta, and Schezwan Rice. Playful bites like Gobi 65, Chinese Bhel, and the Chilli Cheese Quesadilla keep the spirit of street food alive, while the Bazaar MOMO (stuffed with sweetcorn and cheddar cheese) adds a twist of indulgence. The crowning glory is their Hakko – a one-of-a-kind paratha taco reinventing Indo-Chinese flavours.
Executive Chef Nikesh Sawant describes the cuisine as deeply nostalgic: “Indo-Chinese food is pure joy for me. It’s the taste of my Bombay nights — sitting with friends, sharing plates of Manchurian under the streetlights. At TANGRA, we’ve poured that memory into every dish. Every sauce is scratch-made, every spice is fresh and fiery. It’s food that’s unapologetically bold.”
Sip on Soho’s Most Vibrant Cocktails
TANGRA’s bar menu promises drinks as spirited as its dishes. Highlights include the Lychee Baijiu Sling (a refreshing mix of baijiu, lychee, pandan, and grapefruit sherbet) and the indulgent Rasgulla Espresso Martini (spiced rum, espresso, and allspice syrup). For a tropical escape, try the Piña Kolkata, crafted with spiced rum, amla ginger, and coconut. Plus, their No & Lo menu ensures non-drinkers can enjoy food-friendly, vibrant sips like the tangy Jal Jeera or the refreshing No’Rita 0%, a non-alcoholic riff on a margarita with kala khatta.
Where Soho Flair Meets Mumbai Soul
Minutes from Ronnie Scott’s and Bar Italia, TANGRA is as much a feast for the eyes as it is for the palate. The interior blends the spirit of Mumbai’s vibrant culture and Soho’s electric energy through retrofuturist design. Expect perforated timber panels, glowing neon, patterned floors, and layered graphics that celebrate Indian mythology and pop culture with a cheeky modern edge. It’s retro, rich, and utterly inviting — just like the food.
TANGRA opens its doors on 17 Frith Street, Soho, W1D 4R, from 3rd November 2025, serving lunch and dinner seven days a week. Late-night dining runs until 1:30 AM from Thursday to Saturday. Don’t miss your chance to experience the fiery flavours and buzzing spirit of Soho’s newest culinary hotspot.
